Clean hydrogen presents a transformative opportunity for energy-intensive industries worldwide, particularly for countries with abundant renewable energy resources. It can drive significant emission reductions, help achieve national climate targets, and support the creation of new low-carbon industries in developing and transition economies. With its potential to decarbonize critical sectors—including fertilizer production, steel manufacturing, and heavy transportation—clean hydrogen can act as a catalyst for economic growth and job creation, offering pathways to sustainable industrialization.
However, to fully harness this potential, bridging the gap between vision and reality is essential. This first-of-its-kind UNIDO conference will address key solutions to critical challenges, including:
- Enhancing awareness and adoption of emerging technologies
- Unlocking financial support
- Enabling market development for green products
- Strengthening technical readiness across industries
The conference will enable an in-depth discussion on advancing sustainable industrialization by applying clean hydrogen in key sectors such as steel production, fertilizer production, and heavy transportation.
Above all, the event will facilitate an honest, inclusive, and solution-oriented dialogue among key stakeholders from developing, emerging, and industrialized nations — including policymakers, industry leaders, financial institutions, international organizations, NGOs, and civil society.
The event aims to:
- Empower transformative change in developing and transition economies by demonstrating clean hydrogen’s potential to drive the development of local industries in a sustainable manner.
- Advocate for developing and transition economies by providing country delegations a platform to share their visions, efforts, and priorities for a future hydrogen economy.
- Facilitate an inclusive dialogue by uniting the expertise of multiple international partners, public and private sector leaders, and financial institutions to assess opportunities, address obstacles, and identify solutions.
- Share examples, experiences, and useful tools, fostering global knowledge transfer, cooperation and investment opportunities that accelerate sustainable and inclusive industrial development.
- Outline a pathway for action across key sectors, including steel production, fertilizer production, and heavy transportation.
